A night-time fox in the riverside gardens

Our gardener Flavio Terenzoni has been having fun using one of those night-vision cameras to spy on the nocturnal wildlife around the Watermill. We are really searching for badgers and wild pigs, but no sign yet, although Flavio did spot some porcupines near the badgers’ sett.

The latest excitement comes from pictures of the bridge from the riverside gardens across to the bamboozery. Yes, it’s a self-confident fox, who even had time for a slow scratch on the bridge.

As you may know, The Watermill is surrounded by two environmentally protected areas: The National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the backbone of Italy, and the Regional Park of the Apuan Alps, home of the marble mountains of Carrara. The air and the water are pure and unpolluted, and the area abounds in wildlife. Come and share it yourself on one of our internationally renowned painting, creative writing, knitting and Italian language courses. These really is an idyllic setting to overcome your coronavirus blues and plan to enjoy inspirational teaching in the unspoiled Tuscan countryside next year. We would love to welcome you here.
